Straddled by forests of larch and pine with sublime views of the Matterhorn stands the award-winning Saint Hubertus Resort, a boutique hotel seemingly pulled out of a fairytale. Offering spacious apartments decorated in a warm, Alpine-esque rustic design with comfortable contemporary furniture, Simmons mattresses, marble bathrooms, broad stone fireplaces and hi-tech kitchens, it is an unparalleled island of warmth in a sea of snow-capped mountains and trees. Ideally placed for skiing, it is a short stop away from ski lifts and cableway stations - a mere 5 minutes walk - and the hotel itself offers ski equipment and hire facilities, as well as free lifts to the local village. After a long day of conquering the Alpine ridges, guests can unwind in their wide and varied wellness centre, whether it's dipping in the heated indoor pool, soaking amongst the bubbles of the hot tub or relaxing in the Finnish sauna. Afterwards, they can lounge in the champagne bar for drinks and then take a table at the restaurant, that serves delicious local cuisine, all of which is locally-sourced, from the farmhouse cheeses to the meats from the valley.
