Meters from the iconic Bandra Fort and in the midst of Bollywood’s answer to Beverly Hills (Shah Rukh Khan’s mansion is but a few doors down): you are in good company at Taj Lands End. But a short drive from plenty of popular bars and restaurants this is fashionable corner of Mumbai. Though not of this era, interiors are of a classic colonial style. Watercolours paintings set the scene whilst bathrooms, which feature large tubs and separate showers, are marble clad from floor to ceiling. All rooms are of a good size and the best ones include views of the Arabian Sea. Complimentary Forrest Essentials toiletries are an utter treat whilst round the clock room service and concierge, from extremely attentive staff, is an added bonus. Built into a rocky outcrop Taj Lands End boasts sprawling outdoor areas and a tropical outdoor pool. There is a 24-hour state of the art gym as well as one of Taj’s signature JIVA spas. Offering everything from personal training sessions to private yoga classes; traditional Ayurvedic treatments to Swedish massage – it’s a truly international stay. There is a smart clubroom where drinks can be enjoyed on an eve as well as at the Tropics bar, adorned with wicker furnishings, overlooking the pool. Other dining options include the popular Ming’s Chinese restaurant as well as Masala Bay serving classic Indian dishes. There is a smart bistro restaurant opening shortly as well. A buffet breakfast, included in the rate is served at Vista restaurant. Perfectly good and boasting plenty of choice breakfast is not quite on the same level as some of its competitors.
