“Spacious and spoiling luxury apartments in a converted historic building close to the river with a mix of original features and glamorous contemporary furnishings, pampering bathrooms, sleek kitchens and most with hot tubs. Unique art work & impressive modern amenities make this a spoiling choice.”

Hotel review

From the outside, it looks a sturdy, red-brick Victorian building but step inside and the rich colours, low-level lighting and expensive diffuser scent indicate this former villa (originally belonging to Leeds Minster opposite) offers something altogether more sultry. Spread over four floors, the eight loft-style apartments are extravagantly large and combine original features of exposed-brick walls, iron girders and copper pipework with vintage and contemporary furniture. Vast leather sofas in striking colours sit on parquet or polished-concrete-style floors; industrial-style lights hang from ceilings; while quirky vintage pieces – perhaps an old school desk – are dotted around.

Bedrooms are dark and sultry with soft carpets, heaps of cushions and big velvet headboards while fully fitted kitchens have vast fridge-freezers (stocked with wines, spirits and Champagne).

Six apartments have hot tubs – in the penthouse suite it’s on the rooftop – one has a steam room, another a private cinema, two have balconies and all have good Minster views. It’s an old building, so care has to be taken with noise levels. Plenty of bars and restaurants are within a 10-minute walk if you don’t feel like cooking.
