Utterly charming, heritage property right in the heart of Darjeeling town, yet away from its hustle and bustle. Enter through its gates and you are greeted with a postcard worthy scene. Pass a white, lace-work pergoda which would look more in place in Hyde Park than it would in West Bengal, next past the red and gold post box and you reach the reception: floor to ceiling in wood paneling, filled with antique furnishings and with a feeling that it’s always Christmas here. There is a sense of staying at Grandma’s house here, but in the very best way and it is everything travellers want and expect from Darjeeling: quaint, a bit knatty and a little kitsch. Bedrooms are unusual shapes and sizes but all feature a little sitting area, writing desk and most their very own coal fire, to be lit at your request. Bathrooms include a bath and shower and classic green marble surfaces. The food, whilst buffet is delicious and half-board (breakfast and dinner) is included as standard.
