See What They Say
Why do people love staying in your hotel?
Guests love the contrasting luxury of a well-known four star hotel in the heart of beautiful North Norfolk. They say, and we agree, that there is something for everyone at The Hoste, with a wide choice, from the new '5-star'bedrooms in the main hotel, the elegant and pretty rooms at Vine House, and even a converted railway carriage.
What is there to do in the area?
Golf: Royal Brancaster Golf Course, Sheringham, Hunstanton, Cromer.
Sailing: Brancaster Staithe Sailing Club, Morston, Blakeney. (Sailing schools at Brancaster Staithe and Wells –next-the-Sea.)
Tennis: There are traditional tennis courts in each village in the area. But tennis really takes off for two weeks each August when hundreds of teenagers descend for the annual Hunstanton Lawn Tennis Club Tournament.
Walking: This is a fabulous area for coastal and country-side walking. The wide beaches at Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea and Heacham are never crowded. There are hundreds of footpaths, which are well documented and take you past quaint quay-sides, mediaeval religious centres, Georgian villages and rolling agricultural countryside.
Bird-watching.
Wildlife walking at bird sanctuaries like RSPB Titchwell offer an endlessly changing calendar of migrating birds, many of which are very rare. The sight of thousands of knot birds at RSPB Snettisham beach at dawn for example, is fabulous and worth getting up at 4am to experience.
Wind-surfing and kite-surfing in Hunstanton.
Shopping. Guests can stroll around Burnham Market to visit the wide selection of original independent retailers selling clothing, art and products for the home. Alternatively, Holt is another thriving centre, only 30 mins away and offering a plethora of shops and cafes.
What kind of breakfast do you offer?
The Hoste offers a complete breakfast menu which costs just £12 per person.
It includes a full cooked breakfast featuring locally sourced sausage, bacon, mushrooms and eggs.Freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juice. Fresh fruit smoothies, daily made from Greek natural yoghurt. Bread, croissants and pain au chocolat from local bakers.
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
Our a la carte menu for lunch and dinner changes each month and is offered in all The Hoste’s restaurants, the conservatory and the cosy bar. A simple menu is also available at the Beauty Spa. The menus reflect the locally available fish, meat and vegetables and are sourced from animals grazing on coastal meadows which are fed by the sea-salt nutrients.
The oysters, crab and lobster are delivered daily from fishermen who have worked to supply The Hoste for two generations. There are designated oyster beds which were created just for The Hoste tables!
There is a large collection of good places to eat out locally, including The White Horse in Brancaster Staithe, The Crown in Wells-next-the-Sea or the Jolly Farmers in North Creake.
Which are your most popular room types, and why?
The most popular rooms are the Divine Rooms - sought after for their sheer luxury! They cost between £150 and £230 per night.
What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers?
The ancient Hoste is a wonderful centre to North Norfolk and it is steeped in the history of the place where Lord Horatio Nelson was born and raised. But you will find a buzzy, contemporary hotel on entering the elegant, beautifully designed new reception area and this sets The Hoste style. With its six buildings, including the main hotel, a pretty Georgian boutique, three luxury self-catering cottages and even a converted railway carriage, The Hoste truly has something for everyone.
