Hotel review

On arrival, the immediate surroundings of this lovely aparthotel in Amsterdam’s southern suburbs aren’t particularly inspiring. It is on a ring road amongst drab housing and office blocks. However, once inside you are treated to a funky, colourful decor with a 1970s retro feel. The lobby has a fabulous look, with oversized sofas and armchairs, shelves of art books and a ritzy bar. The 56 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroomed apartments have kitchenettes, white-tiled bathrooms and comfy bedrooms and living areas with uplifting terracotta and blue walls and splashes of colour such as mustard easy chairs and apricot headboards. Some have nice little extra features such as art books or a vintage telephone. Although there’s a gym, sauna and laundry on site, there is no restaurant. However, there’s an arrangement with a neighbouring one that provides a tasty menu.
