Situated on the southern tip of the island, the Nai Harn calls itself an icon of Phuket – and quite rightly so. As the first luxury hotel to open here, this five-star institution has welcomed celebrity guests ranging from Roger Moore to Jacques Chirac. Its secluded location is one reason for its enduring popularity – although Phuket has built a reputation for its party scene, the Nai Harn occupies prime position above a golden crescent beach that attracts a family-friendly crowd. Each of the hotel’s 130 rooms boast spectacular views from their expansive private terraces, with most looking out over the Nai Harn bay. Inside, the rooms’ muted tones, pops of colour, and natural wood touches create a luxurious beach house effect. Be sure to head to Reflections bar at 6pm – with panoramic views, sunken seating and happy hour prices, it’s an ideal spot to watch the sun set on another day in paradise.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? The Nai Harn is Phuket’s original luxury resort, it comes with long standing reputation for quality and comfort. The hotel was completely refurbished only 1 1/2 years ago to offer a contemporary beach retreat that still retains a sense of heritage. Stylish designs, breathtaking views and personalised approach to service all add to The Nai Harn experience and the location overlooking Phuket’s best beach (as voted by Tripadvisor Readers in 2017) offers panoramic views of the southern tip of the island and the majestic Andaman sea. The guest rooms and suites all offer generous private terraces and the rooftop terrace lounge is the perfect spot for sunset drinks. The restaurants serve a wide range in Thai and fine global cuisine with an exclusive wine list curate by world-renowned wine critic James Suckling. What is there to do in the area? The resort is steps from the beach and offers complimentary kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and snorkelling equipment. Chartered boat trips to nearby islands are also popular activities and there are (luckily) no motorized water sports on Nai Harn Beach. Nearby attractions on land include the famous Wat Chalong temple and the Big Buddha statue high in the southern hills. Promthep Cape on the opposite headland is on of Thailand’s most famous landmarks and also features a historical lighthouse. What kind of breakfast do you offer? The Nai Harn offers one of the most bountiful breakfast buffets in Phuket, if not in Thailand, featuring a cooked-to-order egg station, homemade cheeses, charcuterie and smoked fish. On the sweeter side, there’s fresh, tropical fruit, pastries still warm from the oven and a generous spread of homemade jams. A vitality corner features a range of healthy homemade juices. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? The Nai Harn offers lunch and dinner, an international affair with everything from classic Mediterranean dishes to delicious Thai cuisine. Diners can choose from a variety of crisp, organic salads, melt-in-your-mouth sushi and sashimi and healthy grilled fish. A selection of artisanal ice creams and sorbets rounds out the dining experience. Prepared in house, these feature classic flavours along with a few delightful surprises, such as honeycomb and rosemary and chocolate-lemongrass. Our beach restaurant Rock Salt is a dining destination not to be missed featuring an Indian tandoor, woodfired pizza oven and charcoal barbecue grill. There are a few local, beach-style restaurants within walking distance of the resort, and a 5-minute drive from the resort (or 15 minutes by bicycle, which guests can use on a complimentary basis) brings you to a number of local bars and restaurants with Thai and International food on the menu. Which are your most popular room types, and why? The most popular room type at The Nai Harn is Grand Ocean View room. These stunning 81sqm guestrooms occupy the 1st to 7th floors of the resort and are equipped with an oversized bed fitted with exquisite 300-thread-count cotton linens. Down and feather pillows and a mattress topper contribute to a truly heavenly sleep. The bathrooms, with rainforest showers and stand-alone bathtubs, offer generous space to relax and rejuvenate after a day at the beach. All the rooms open to an expansive private terrace with a canopied four-poster daybed, which can be curtained all around when needed. All the rooms offer panoramic views over the turquoise waters of Nai Harn bay. What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? We have babysitting service for our little guests with advance notice. Regarding extra beds, we can set these up in Grand Ocean View rooms, Ocean View Suites and Royal Ocean View Suites with advance notice. What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? The Nai Harn is Phuket’s only member of the “Leading Hotels of the World” and offers a blend of modern architecture and décor, enhanced by warm hospitality and personal services in an atmosphere of timeless elegance. You can enjoy romance, culinary excellence, peace and wellness, fun and adventure, all infused with a true sense of heritage overlooking stunning Nai Harn Bay.
