The Red Lion in Clovelly is the perfect destination for those seeking a little slice of days gone by. The property is located right on the quayside of Clovelly harbour and the village embodies the best of idyllic seaside holidays: car free streets, donkeys, boats, fishermen landing their catch....The hotel doesn't disappoint inside either. Rooms have been converted from three 18th century cider houses and now offer stylish, bright accommodation featuring a neutral palette with lovely splashes of blue and green which reflect the nautical feel of the place. All the bedrooms have wonderful views either over the harbour or out to sea. There are two bars for relaxing and the Harbour Restaurant serves the freshest and best of the day's catch, with other ingredients sourced as locally as possible, much from the Clovelly estate itself. A great choice for a low key seaside holiday in a stunning village location on the North Devon coast.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Clovelly is unique, it has been owned by the same family since Richard II was on the throne, its unspoilt, romantic and a place in our wild world that you can really relax and get away!
What is there to do in the area? We have Boscastle, Tintagnal, Padstow within an hour of us. Exmoor and Dartmoor on our door step along with the beautiful and unspoilt North Devon Coast. Local secret is the sun set from Hartland quay.
What kind of breakfast do you offer? We have a very Devonian Breakfast that has “heal taps’ and “Hoggs pudding’ on offer as part of the great British fry up, but we also offer fresh fish, Eggs Benedict and Florentine and don’t forget for the Continental, we bake fresh pastries.
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We have two places to eat at night either the Harbour Bar and Snug or the Harbour Restaurant. Most of the fresh fish and shell fish we serve comes off our own fishing boats. All our food is Modern European.
Which are your most popular room types, and why? Rooms 4 & 5 in the original building are the most popular because they have a balcony and bay window, are both quite large but it's the view that sells it every time. The new Sail Loft bedrooms will amaze every time, they all look over the Bristol Channel and are large, yet modern with a Nautical theme that runs throughout the hotel.
What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? We have two family rooms that will sleep 4 people
What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? Clovelly has to be one of the most romantic destinations in Britain today If you haven’t stayed you must and if you have I’m sure you have booked to come back!
