“A charming 15th-century pub with seven rooms, situated in the heart of Constable's hometown. Rooms are comfortable and quirky some with four-poster beds, fireplaces and others a more modern feel. Excellent restaurant with regularly changing menu featuring the best seasonal produce.”

Hotel review

Yellow painted 15th century coaching inn on Dedham's main street - a typically idyllic English country village and where Constable went to school. Nearby river Stour provides a great place for a little boating, with a picnic supplied by the restaurant. Rooms - some with four posters - are light and airy - simply furnished but with mod cons like ipod docks, free wifi and lovely linens. Some have views of the famous church.

The Sun Inn

This Essex bolthole couldn’t help but be a winning combination, blending all that’s best about English pubs with some great Italian cooking. Plus it’s located in one of southeast England’s most attractive and historic villages – Dedham, in the heart of Constable Country on the Essex-Suffolk borders.
