With its privileged location on the Rio Negro, Manaus is the main departure point for trips into the Amazon Rainforest. For this reason it is often overlooked as a destination in its own right, in spite of the fact that its historic town centre remains an important melting pot of native cultures and heritage architecture. Villa Amazônia captures colonial-era Manaus with its location in a beautiful, heritage mansion. Rooms are orientated towards an interior patio which hosts a pretty pool and feature comfortable, king-size beds, local textiles and cosy soft furnishings. The premium room offers extra living space and a bathroom with a tub. Downstairs in the Fitz Carroldo Bistro guests can enjoy meals based on traditional, Amazonian ingredients in a relaxed, informal environment; hop over to the poolside bar for after-dinner drinks. There is an intimate lounge with exposed wooden beams if you prefer to unwind inside. A smart, boutique-style hotel in a great location.
