Hotel review

With its pretty garden (patrolled by summer kittens), a fair-sized pool, a library of dog-eared paperbacks that hint at the tastes and nationalities of former patrons, and owners who welcome you to chat (about art, literature, international affairs or Turkey’s soccer prospects) over complimentary evening tea, this is a fantastic find. It’s hidden away behind high walls that give no hint of the welcome within. Rooms in an old serai-style building are immaculate, and you’d never guess that the fleshpots of Kusadasi are right outside. No children under ten.
