“A luxury collection of free-standing villas boasting 3 swimming pools and an on-site restaurant and bar serving Mediterranean/Cali fare, perfect for couples. 5 minutes drive from Downtown, the villas are spacious and comfortable, but it is their bold, arty and vibrant design that really stands out.”

Hotel review

Tucked away in a quiet corner of Palm Springs, about a mile and a half from the bustling Downtown's theatres, museums and shopping destinations, lies Villa Royale, the historic hideaway to the stars. Since it's post-war conception, the attractive Spanish style resort has delighted guests with it's elegance and boutique charm. The current incarnation still boasts the same spectacular views of the San Jacinto Mountain Range but has been modified since its Hollywood heyday, sporting Simmons mattresses and Mascioni linens and duvet covers, lavishly stocked honour bars full of cocktail favourites, and wonderful oil paintings by former resident artists Juan Casas, Lou Kregal and Sara Radovanovich.

Dining has also been revamped, the on-site restaurant Del Rey is elegant, dark and sexy with an intimate atmosphere in its comfortable green vinyl booths. The marble bar is well-stocked, offering a range of cocktails, and the food is served in tapas style, with staples such as boquerones crostini and patatas bravas, as well as a range of seafood, flatbreads and a popular flat-iron steak.

The resort is pet friendly, with a reasonable $50 cleaning fee, and is graced with 3 pools, each sporting fantastic views. The perfect romantic hideaway for couples seeking a little privacy and some classic desert style.
