The Chateau de Salettes, located in a renovated 13th century castle (once owned by the family of Henri Toulouse-Lautrec and one of Napoleon’s Generals), just an hour north-east from Toulouse airport, truly is an island of respite and beauty in the heart of the Gaillac vineyards. The stunning, panoramic views take the guest away from the hustle and bustle of their everyday life and deposit them in a sphere of peace and serenity the only disruption to which is the Michelin Star food served by Pascal Auger in the accompanying restaurant. The modern décor and comfort of the rooms is exceptional and the swimming pool vital during the long hot sun drenched summer days. Best for those with a long reading list, it could also be used as a base to discover the many cultural and historical delights of the region. As you will be staying in one, it is not a bad place to start.
