A subdued zen-like oasis, owned by an Englishman who has gone to great trouble to create a well-designed hotel devoid of fuss and exotic frivolity. No hot paprika or saffron hues here. Instead a calming neutral palette that inspires serenity. Glass doors open onto an internal courtyard so adjacent rooms get natural light yet are cocooned from the occasional gusty wind. This light/sheltering theme is echoed upstairs in bedrooms, each well proportioned with a generous bed, sandy coloured tadelakt walls, private balcony and grand, ambient, lantern-lit bathroom. Deep baths make for a welcome addition in colder months. A contemporary communal sitting area at the top of the building leads to the decked roof terrace with all manner of seating/reclining options, from padded wooden chairs with tables and banquette seating to curved sun loungers and hot tub. It's a calming place, a tranquil retreat with an on-site hamman.
