The Alpina is cosy and comfortable, with friendly staff often dressed swiss style, who welcome you by name. They even write your name on a heart shaped slate and hang it outside your bedroom door. Loyal guests are treasured and return each year. There is an attractive sitting area a snug bar and cosy outside corners for après ski tea and cakes, which satisfactorily merges into cocktail hour. Well-behaved dogs disappear into the lifts with their owners. There’s a choice of two restaurants: the Bunderstube serving local dishes and the gourmet Grischstübli offering amuse-bouche and gourmet menus. Dinner in the latter is elegant and romantic, with a blazing log fire, and attentive service. Rooms are well-appointed and spacious with towelling dressing gowns and proper slippers for padding to the indoor pool, sauna and steam room (The spa offers a range of pampering treatments too). Rooms are Swiss minimalist, immaculately clean and come with wonderfully comfortable Samina beds, tea and Nepresso coffee machine and delicious chocolates. Breakfast is as expected a splendid buffet, the perfect start to an active or lazy day.
