Hotel review

A collection of ten cottages sitting above Monemvasia at the foot of a 500 foot rock bluff. On the far western edge of the town so it is very, very quiet. This is probably the only place to stay in Monemvasia with its own pool. The planting is mature, making the cottages well (but not perfectly) screened from each other. Each cottage has a kitchen/dining area, not a separate room but well designed to make them separate spaces, a sitting terrace looking east, and a breakfast mini-terrace in shade. Bathrooms are slightly primitive, but perfectly functional. The prize is a large pool and terrace at the centre of the property. With only twelve rooms, this is little used and deeply peaceful, almost like a private pool. There is no bar, restaurant or other distractions but you will find a mini-market at the bottom of the hill and plenty of tavernas in town. It's the perfect place from which to explore the Monemvasia Kastro and easily the nicest place to stay in the area.
