It took nine painstaking years of renovations to transform this former bank into a grand, fully functioning 18-room hotel. There’s no skimping on the elaborate craftsmanship emblematic of Morocco. From the filigree-style carved woodwork and intricately painted decorative panelling to the zellige tiling and oversized perforated brass chandeliers, this is a fine example of an updated traditional interior. Rooms are comfortably compact with contemporary Art Deco style beds, engraved Venetian mirrors and modern marble bathrooms, all facing onto a large inner courtyard where guests can have authentic Moroccan buffet breakfasts - spongy textured semolina beghrir pancakes, square msemen crepes, sweet olives, fresh goat’s cheese, nuts and dried fruit, washed down with heavyweight aromatic coffee. Akin to rocket fuel, this will help power you round the kasbah. A glass elevator leads to all floors including a roof terrace with views looking outward towards the sea.
