My recent sojourn at the Inn at Mattei's Tavern in Los Olivos, a gem in the Auberge Resorts Collection, was nothing short of enchanting. This historical haven, once a stagecoach stop, now marries rustic sophistication with modern comforts in a way that would leave any traveller spellbound.

The cottages, a delightful blend of the old and new, offered a serene and luxurious escape. Particularly, the Cedar Cottage, with its Egyptian cotton sheets and premium bedding, was a sanctuary of comfort. The room's minibar and in-room safe added a touch of modern convenience to the historic charm.

My gastronomic journey at the Tavern was equally memorable. The Huevos Rancheros for breakfast were a revelation, urging me to ponder a return just for another taste. The chilli served in the bar was a hearty delight, and the blueberry muffins and chocolate croissants at the breakfast room set a high bar for morning indulgences.

The property's layout, with its gorgeous pool, inviting patios, and beautiful landscaping, provided a picturesque backdrop for a relaxing break.
