From the elegant, sometimes theatrical, decor you might not guess this is such a family-friendly London hotel. Kids will love the spy-pack given to help them spot the hotel keepsakes and the beehives that can be safely viewed from a glass screen.
The Berkeley is another grand dame, this time impressively positioned across from Hyde Park. Families are warmly welcomed here from the children's treats at check-in to the games consoles, the dedicated family hours at the pool, and the childminding and babysitting services. For adult enjoyment, there's the renowned Blue Bar, a seriously spoiling spa, and dining at Marcus Wareing's Michelin starred restaurant.

For self-catering

Europa House is a collection of 14 luxuriously kitted out one, two or three-bedroom apartments in a leafy spot in Little Venice. For self-catering this is ideal: the apartments have dishwashers and washing machines, Nespresso machines and a fridge that comes pre-stocked with some ‘little somethings’. No 5 Maddox Street is a suites only self-catering hotel just off Regent Street in Mayfair, close to the shops and Soho. There are both two and three bedrooms suites on offer, but only 12 of them, so it’s a small property. The kitchens are well planned and provide everything you need, though you’re also in a great spot for eating out.

For great value

The London Bridge Hotel is great value and friendly while boasting a fantastic location. Rooms come in a range of sizes including a family-sized room, adjacent rooms, or two-bedroom apartments that also have cooking facilities. The British restaurant and bar serving casual small plates is a real crowd-pleaser.

Located just a stone’s throw from Sloane Street and Sloane Square and therefore walking distance to many of the main attractions for kids, including the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum. Be sure to book in advance, these studios fill very quickly.

For a hip stay

Clerkenwell’s Zetter Hotel is youthful and bright; expect pop art and site-specific installations, plus fun details in the decor. All the rooms are different, some more conservative than others, and there are a good range of interconnecting rooms for families. The hip cocktail bar will please adults and the use of local companies in their toiletries and bar supplies is a nice touch.
