About Canyamel

On Mallorca's tranquil eastern coast, Canyamel is a lovely choice for a quieter beach holiday. Beachgoers will adore Canyamel’s big bay, with calm waters for swimming, sailing and kayaking. Bask in the sunshine on the sand, explore the rocky coastline and the fascinating Artà Caves, or venture inland to follow pretty paths between olive groves and pine forests. Named in honour of the sweetness of the sugar cane which grew across this part of Mallorca in the 18th Century, Canyamel remains largely rural — perfect for mountain biking and horse riding as well as hiking.

Keen golfers can play a round or two at Canyamel Golf Club — with views to Menorca on clear days — or hone their skills on a further three nearby courses.   • Hotel Pleta de Mar, sister hotel to Can Simoneta, is a hip, sophisticated spot with understated yet luxurious bungalows featuring natural materials including bamboo ceilings and woven hessian headboards behind big beds with crisp white sheets. Expect sweeping Mediterranean vistas and a top-notch restaurant headed by Michelin-starred Marc Fosh. The two infinity pools are spectacular.

Travel information

  • Fly to Palma de Mallorca Airport, and travel around an hour by car or bus to Canyamel. Most hotels will be happy to arrange an airport pick up in advance.
  • Mallorca is wonderful to explore by road! Contact our online partner Rentalcars if you would like to hire a car.
  • Expect hot, sunny summers, with temperatures averaging between 22°C - 28°C from June to August. Winters are mild, but the autumn months tend to be very rainy. If you're keen to avoid the peak season crowds at the beach, travel in late April or May when you can expect cooler climes and great hotel deals.
