Located on the east coast just south of Capdepera and Cala Ratjada, an hour from Palma and the airport, Can Simoneta sits on the cliffs above the beach at Canyamel and has spectacular views of the Mediterranean and beyond — Menorca on a good day. Drive through the electric gates and up the impressive olive tree avenue to arrive at three honey coloured Mallorcan 'farmhouses' which have been immaculately restored in a contemporary style with soft muted colours and modern artworks.

Leave the cares of the world behind, sit back, relax and be pampered. Being adult only everything is geared towards peace and calm, every room has its own designated and secluded space. You are here to relax and the ever helpful and discreet staff are always on hand whether it's with a new towel or a pre-lunch aperitif. Rooms are simple, pared down and luxurious; nothing fancy but attention paid to every detail: giant beds, capacious cupboards, plenty of fluffy towels and L'Occitane bath products.

The restaurant, whether inside or out, has the same heavenly views of the Mediterranean, and is under the command of David Moreno from Mexico. He offers a fusion of fresh Mallorcan produce and hot exotic Latin flavours. A combination which fires the taste buds but is surprisingly familiar. The wine list is refreshingly well priced.

There's no need to leave Can Simoneta, most guests arrive and switch off, but if you do there's a plethora of things to do nearby: golf, horse riding, mountain biking, water skiing, sailing, or even a gentle stroll to sister property Pleta de Mar for an evening aperitif or dinner.

Can Simoneta — it's probably the best hotel in Mallorca.
