Masseria Mongio is a wonderful find in the already crowded Puglian holiday scene. Nestled amid charming gardens, yet just steps from a glorious sandy beach and turquoise waters - the location is perfect. The property has been created from an old group of rural buildings which have been lovingly restored using traditional materials with the aim of complementing the natural surroundings. The result is a definite success! The seventeen individually designed suites exude understated elegance and are fairly minimalist in style. Think white-washed walls, exposed stonework, tiled floors, and plenty of wooden features, from headboards to beamed ceilings. All come with either a private terrace or garden. Families are well catered for too - one of the suites can accommodate up to six and has its own kitchenette. A delicious mediterranean style breakfast comes in the room price and for dinner (and or lunch on request) there's an excellent onsite restaurant which specialises in cuisine from the local Salento region, with an emphasis on seafood and vegetables all of which can be sourced within a few kilometres. For those who don't want to get out exploring (there's bikes to borrow for the energetic), we'd recommend a lazy day by the large outdoor pool which is surrounded by ample loungers and parasols for when the sun is just too much! And for further relaxation there's a Spa offering sauna, spa bath and personalised treatments. Quite simply, Masseria Mongio is a real treat and good value too - one you'll want to return to again and again.
