“A stunning lifestyle hotel in Marylebone. Minimalist rooms and suites channel oriental vibes and western comforts. Think plenty of wood and pale colours, indulgent bathrooms and large windows for city views. Dining is as spectacular as you’d expect and the cocktails should not be missed. Superb!”

Hotel review

From what looks like a pretty uninspiring old block of flats on the western edge of Portman Square, Nobu has worked their magic for their second London property. The entrance is through a snazzy black coloured ground floor extension, where the architects have crafted a stunning open lobby/lounge/work friendly zone with plenty of low tables and sofas, ideal for socialising or networking. Well trained staff ensure that check-in is effortless and the vibe is of a very well-oiled slick machine. The rooms and suites are housed in two of these red brick blocks, but inside all is zen! You’ll find the usual Nobu style of pale colours and oriental touches – the Japanese influence is apparent not only in the colour scheme but also the cute little touches like personal tea set, art works and furnishings – alongside the five star treats you’d expect: super comfy bed, leather headboard, beautifully crafted wooden desks, fabulous bathroom, Grown Alchemist toiletries, Nespresso machines…the list goes on! But for many the main event at a Nobu hotel is the dining, and this outpost will not disappoint. If in doubt (the menu is extensive and might seem daunting to an unseasoned visitor) pick one of the Omakase tasting menus. Helpful and knowledgeable staff will explain each dish and the standard is exceptional. Plate after plate of amazing dishes that will both surprise and delight. Downstairs the Nobu Bar is equally inviting. There’s a cool list of cocktails and a helpful mixologist on hand to help guide you through some of the more unfamiliar ingredients. It’s a hip, cool space where the black colour scheme just adds to the sultry vibe. For anyone looking for a luxury, foodie stay in a convenient location in the heart of London, this is a no-brainer!
