Located in the heart of Kolonaki, Athens' most prestigious district, Shila occupies a beautifully restored 1920’s neoclassical mansion exuding vintage elegance and artistic sophistication. Kolonaki–known for its upscale boutiques, fine dining and vibrant cultural scene–is home to some of the city’s most renowned museums. It's also steeped in history, with Hadrian’s Reservoir, an ancient Roman water supply system, still lying beneath its streets. Originally built in 140 AD to channel water from Mount Hymettus, the reservoir played a crucial role in sustaining ancient Athens for over a millennium.

True to its Sanskrit namesake, Shila—meaning ‘character’—blends Belle Époque chic with contemporary artistic expression. Its six individually designed suites feature antique furnishings, plush velvet textiles and handcrafted details, intended to provide a timeless aesthetic. The hotel is deeply connected to both the local and international art and design scenes, curating select works throughout its common areas and suites.
