“A highly luxurious boutique hotel perched on a hilltop with panoramic views over its own vineyards. Romantic rooms and suites have traditional decoration and Italianate opulence. A top of the range spa, fabulous regional cuisine fresh from the garden, and a pool. Glorious, rural, romantic. ”

Hotel review

A hotel that leaves a lasting impression. This Italianate castle has managed the perfect blend of tradition, romance, and designer flair to create a real boutique experience. 5 rooms and 2 suites are rich and opulent with with their warm walls and smatterings of gilt. The pool and spa is superbly luxurious and still manages to blend in with the rural landscape. Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, it's a magical setting that is matched by fairytale interiors: stone-flagged floors, big fireplaces, turrets, and rose gardens. The kitchen provides fresh seasonal produce and lunch and dinner by request, also cooking lessons. Utterly romantic!

Castello di Vicarello, Tuscany: full review

Ringed by fir trees, the imposing stone building is set against a backdrop of lush pastures and hazy hilltops that's pure Renaissance fresco. We walk through an archway and into an ancient courtyard where we stand silently, looking at spikes of grass that poke like green hair from between the cobbles. The warm air carries the scent of rosemary and thyme, and the only sound is the buzz of insects. It's hard to remember which century we're in.
