Essaouira Lodge

By the time you reach the Lodge at the end of a meandering track 30 minutes outside Essaouira, expectation is piquing. Hidden among the thuya trees are a series of low sandstone buildings housing the main hotel while guests can choose from individual villas, apartments or suites of varying sizes, many with traditional tadelakt walls, private terrace, kitchenette and sitting area. A warm greeting awaits from manager Antoine whose easy-going, friendly manner sets the tone for the hotel. Relaxing and unwinding is very much on the menu here, aided by smiley staff. No disturbance other than happy bird chatter. The restaurant overlooks a large heated pool surrounded by sunloungers and raffia parasols. Generous breakfasts and buffet lunches are enjoyed in wide comfy leather seats at tables under tented canvas. Antoine also runs the popular hangout Beach & Friends and romantic Le Patio restaurant in town serving creative flavoursome food.

What kind of breakfast do you offer?
The best ! The Moroccan one.. Better be hungry in the morning.. Pancake, pastries, cake, bread, eggs, Moroccan honey (one of the best in the world) home made jams, and of course fresh citrus juice and Moroccan mint tea..

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
Yes, we have a restaurant and bar " The Pool House " inside and outside..
Great lunch buffet at noon, salad bar and desserts..
Dinner menu changing every night..
You might also ask us to come and cook for you in your house..
My preferred private beach and restaurant in town is "Beach and Friends" at day time and "Le Patio" for fresh Fish and original dishes for dinner..

Which are your most popular room types, and why?
Popular.. depends on budget, in high demand are our great villas with private pool and houses with garden. Otherwise our upstairs large suites are also very popular with private terrace and panoramic landscape views.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ?
Our big heated pool has a kids corner and we also provide games, baby sitter and beds if needed. Essaouira beach is a excellent for kids, no traffic.. donkey, horses, camels and pussycats runs around, kids playing football and basketball on the beach and everybody is welcome to participate..
