Hotel Review
It may not have the most facilities - there’s no pool, gym or spa, for example - but boy, this hotel makes up for it with its fantastic central location and swish interior design by Barcelona maestro Lazaro Rosa-Violan. Situated just off the Plaça Catalunya, within easy reach of the city’s Gothic and El Born quarters, it has been expertly restored from a building dating back to the 1920s, it boasts a buzzing rooftop bar and a funky, bright lobby complete with an Uber-stylish cocktail bar. Guest rooms are equally inviting, featuring dark wood furniture and contemporary artworks. To top all that the restaurant, adorned with plants, serves delicious local and Mediterranean dishes, and has a lovely little palm-fringed courtyard.

See What They Say
Why do people love staying in your hotel? One day a guest said to us, “The Pulitzer is a happening place. I love it!” And that is exactly what it is. Far from being a collection of rooms, the Pulitzer is a place with a pulse, where there are always things happening, where every day is different. It is decidedly ‘cool’: a destination in its own right. The Pulitzer is a boutique hotel located right in the heart of Barcelona, a stone’s throw from Plaza Catalunya. Its unforgettable location is one of its main points of appeal as it is surrounded by the best cultural attractions, the most exclusive shopping, the most important business centres and is at the hub of the entire urban transport network. The Pulitzer’s restaurant offers healthy and locally sourced cuisine that is deeply rooted in the concept of slow food. It also has a bustling lobby – a meeting point for Barcelona locals and tourists alike, a beautiful patio overflowing with plants and an impressive rooftop terrace-garden, with live concerts and DJ sessions that have become established as a benchmark to live up to within the music life of the city.
What is there to do in the area? You will find Hotel Pulitzer Barcelona in Bergara street number 8, right in the heart of the city of Barcelona. You will be able to find us a few steps away from Las Ramblas and the well-known Paseo de Gracia. The perfect location to discover the city or to stay while doing business.
What kind of breakfast do you offer? We love Pulitzer guests to enjoy our huge breakfast bar, the best start to the day. It features a wide range of sweet options and housemade sandwiches, plus Spanish cured meats and cheeses, artisan bread, fresh cut fruit and a large selection of milk and yoghurt options to combine with cereal, granola or nuts. We also have acacia honeycomb, an oven to warm up the quiche we make daily and eggs à la minute: poached, fried, boiled, scrambled or in an omelette. Made to order! All with sides ranging from veggies to bacon, avocado or smoked salmon. To complete this breakfast moment, we have organic teas, fresh juices, coffee made to order by our baristas and French presses for those who prefer to do it themselves.
Food intolerances or allergies? We make sure you can enjoy a selection of gluten-free and lactose-free options. You can also let our team know about your special requests ahead of time and we’ll do what we can to make sure you have absolutely everything you need.
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? Yes, inside the hotel we have The Greenhouse, that could be an actual greenhouse with a terrace in the midst of the city, but in fact this is the name of our new restaurant at the Pulitzer: a plant-filled oasis of calm right in the heart of Barcelona. It is a bright Mediterranean-style space serving a lunch menu with just the right degree of sophistication and an idyllic atmosphere The food on offer at The Greenhouse gives centre stage to seasonal vegetables, locally sourced meat, fish brought daily from the fish market and 100% home-made desserts. The dishes are prepared using fresh and healthy ingredients from the land, including heirloom vegetable varieties that bring back the flavours of the past. In the middle of the day The Greenhouse offers an appealing menu that is perfect for working lunches or meeting up with friends. It includes five choices of starter, main course and dessert and the menu changes each week depending on market ingredients. The raw materials are sourced from carefully selected local suppliers who stand out for the exceptional quality of their work and for their painstaking production processes. The meticulously chosen range of wines also stands out, many of which are organic and come from small wineries where grapes are grown and wine produced in the traditional way. We are sure that a meal at The Greenhouse will turn into a great experience that you will be delighted to have enjoyed.
We also have our Lobby Bar, a space open to everyone, whether it be local citizens of any other kind of visitor. It is thanks to the cosy atmosphere of our local and its privileged central location that Lobby Bar has become a meeting point in our city. We have a menu of sandwiches and tapas that you can order any time.
Besides this, during summer you can visit La Terraza del Pulitzer, where the best DJ in town play in the frame of the #BuenasTardesPulizer sessions. Our cuisine is inspired by street food but elevated to its highest expression with an exotic touch. Our chef, Marc Pérez, gives diners a street-side experience cooking up dishes to order on our grill to be enjoyed informally while listening to good music. Appetisers like Russian salad with fresh seared tuna or the bomba of slow-cooked Iberico pork ribs with chipotle mayonnaise sit alongside fresh fish and seafood, organic meat for our delicious burgers and baked coca for all tastes. Not to mention one of our bestsellers: our selection of shared boards in the “Sharing is Caring” section. And for dessert? This season’s sweets range from chargrilled banana with chocolate, salt flakes and extra virgin olive oil to the classic lemon pie with cremeux, made with Turkish yoghurt and topped with crumble.
Which are your most popular room types, and why? Our most popular rooms are the Suite and the Terrace ones. The Suite Room is an apartment itself with Pulitzer’s symbol of identity: a marvelous terrace, luminous and a distinguished cosmopolitan character. Ideal for special evening events, a pleasant place to relax or to finish the day after doing business in the city. In there, you can enjoy a good night’s sleep in a full-sized bed dressed with pillows, sheets, duvets and plaids made of 100% cotton. Wrap yourself in a soft bathrobe and enjoy the spacious bathroom in grey marble and black ceramic equipped with a bathtub and a shower. In there you can also enjoy the sight of Plaza Catalunya and relax in the more than 30 square meters terrace-solarium.
On the other hand, our three Terrace Rooms are a unique space to enjoy a private terrace and disconnect right in the city center. You can lie down in a outdoor space plenty of plants, where you can relax under the moon light or cooling off with a cocktail in the shaded areas when the sun goes down. Natural wood, organic materials and adjustable lighting reinforce intimacy to turn into a unique experience. The Pulitzer Terrace Rooms are located on the first floor of the hotel and have an independent terrace with maximum privacy. They're also interconnected, so if you're travelling in groups of people using three rooms, you can share the open-air space and share time with your partners on an XL terrace.
What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? We have facilities under under demand but we also have the Pulitzer Extra rooms, the perfect place to welcome families. Anyway, we open the door to the coolest parents with their children enjoying our #BuenasTardesPulitzer sessions in our rooftop.
What message would you like to give The Hotel Guru readers? During summers, you can't miss our rooftop, called La Terraza del Pulitzer. It was the first to open its doors to Barcelonians more than a decade ago, and every summer is back with the legendary sessions #BuenasTardesPulitzer. This 2022 it has been 100% renovated, showing a brighter and more welcoming design by Lázaro Rosa Violán. You can listen live music every Wednesday and local DJ sets from Thursday to Sunday. Along the years, the terrace has become an essential of summer events that works as the perfect crossover between music and exquisite gastronomy through bites created by chef Marc Pérez
