In the foothills of the Atlas mountains, the Kasbah Bab Ourika’s location is breathtaking. The somewhat perilous approach gives way to an impeccably tasteful and wonderfully serene hilltop hideaway set in gorgeously groomed gardens of olive trees, lavender hedges and rose beds. Individually decorated rooms give the place the unique and cosy feeling that one is staying at a lucky friend’s fabulous holiday house rather than just another boutique Moroccan hotel. Amazingly, the Kasbah is only 45 minutes from Marrakech making it equally feasible to spend the day shopping in the Medina as trekking through the Ourika Valley and beyond. For guests that wish to do neither (an entirely reasonable choice) the swimming pool is divine, the hammam invigorating, and the food delicious - dishes are traditional and vary on a daily basis, and in fact much of the produce is supplied by the hotel’s own extensive vegetable patch. Above all the Kasbah offers peace and relaxation in spectacular surroundings, a memorable escape from the hustle of the Western world.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Kasbah Bab Ourika is the gateway to the Ourika Valley and the Atlas Mountains yet is only 45 minutes from Marrakech. It is surrounded by staggering mountain views and provides a perfect place to relax and unwind while at the same time offering lots of different activities and excursions.
What is there to do in the area? The Kasbah has its own trekking team and regularly arranges long and short treks in the Salt National Park adjoining the Kasbah and further afield to Mount Toubkal for example. We also arrange day trips to Marrakech and excursions in and around the Ourika Valley. Many guests visit the Kasbah’ s local Monday market at Tnine Ourika which is the largest in the area and provides a fascinating visit to view an agrarian market in action. Hammam and massages and yoga are also available.
What kind of breakfast do you offer? Full breakfast (tea, coffee, orange juice, fruit salad, muesli, yoghurt, selection of Moroccan bread and pancakes and choice of eggs)
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? The Kasbah serves lunch and dinner and the menu is changed on a daily basis. Guests can try local tagines on excursions into the Valley.
Which are your most popular room types, and why? All rooms have amazing views of either the Atlas Mountains, the National Park or the river valley. Many have a combination of all three panoramas.
What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? The Kasbah’s location is spectacular. We can arrange many excursions, activities and events or ensure that you have a relaxing experience in a beautiful setting.
