Nestled on a cove between Morjim and Ashwem beaches, two of North Goa’s most popular, Leela Cottages enjoys a prime spot. A tropical, beachside oasis comprised of eighteen quaintly decorated wooden cottages. Furniture that looks as though it’s been flown in straight from Rajasthan adds an authentically Indian touch: think huge antique doors complete with clunky padlocks, colourful tiles and ornately carved benches. Capacious four-posters with billowing white curtains and hammocks remind guests that this is after all a beach resort. Pop colours extend as far as the shrubbery with lush green planting juxtaposed with pops of fuchsia flowers. Owner and local culinary aficionado, Chris Agha Bee, has teamed up with New York trained chef Sai Sabnis to create local favourite: Elevar. Chris’ flagship restaurant guests can dine on fresh seafood and innovative European fusion dishes. The remodelled Goan fish thali is a particular favourite. Or why not wander a little further down the beach to Elevar's sister restaurant, Sublime. Yet another culinary feast. A more grown up affair than some of Goa’s family friendly retreats, romantic rooms make Leela Cottages the perfect stay for a couple’s getaway. Annual retreats and classes for all abilities, plus an indulgent spa boasting an extensive Ayurvedic treatment list, also make it popular amongst travelling yogis. An excellent boutique offering.
