Hotel Review
With Michelin-starred menus, a slinky spa and wrap-around infinity pool, this volcanic rock-hewn resort on a panoramic sea view perch is the perfect spot for staying close to the action whilst remaining far from those madding caldera crowds.
Hyatt's first Unbound Collection resort on the volcanic island loved by honeymooners, Magma is a beautiful breezy countryside affair with plenty of luxurious trappings. It's just 15 minutes drive from Oia's famous sunset spots, yet remains hidden. Surrounded by a green-furled sea of the vines used to produce Santorini's fruity Vinsanto wine, rooms and suites trickle down to a demilune-shaped infinity pool which gazes out over stony fields studded with the big green paws of prickly pear to a distant bluish shimmer of sea beyond.
Unconstrained by the lack of space that's such a bugbear for many of Santorini's more popular resorts, 59 rooms and suites are light-filled and spacious, with whirlpool baths or glittering plunge pools, whilst the resort's Magma by Spondi restaurant dishes up delish degustation menus curated by two-star Michelin chef Arnaud Bignon.
