Arguably one of the UK’s most luxury, historic coastal hotels, The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne is indeed grand in many ways. Boasting beautiful views of the ocean, the hotel oozes history and retains many of its original features, so guests can expect to feel like they’re stepping back in time to the days when Victorian high society would descend on The Grand.

On arrival, it’s difficult not to be wowed by the façade of ‘The White Palace’ and its elegant Grand Hall, which was once the setting for the BBC’s weekly 'Grand Hotel' broadcast featuring the hotel's orchestra before the Second World War – and now where visitors indulge in champagne-afternoon tea.

The hotel caters well to couples looking to soak up the spa treatments, candle-light and gentle piano music in The Garden restaurant and expertly-crafted cocktails in the bar; but there’s a lot for groups and families, too. The incredibly spacious Master Suites are perfect for families, children are given goodie bags on arrival, and there’s a children’s room and indoor pool to help keep younger ones entertained (side note: The Grand also has an outdoor pool and loungers for sunnier days). Room service will even deliver complimentary milk and cookies to guest rooms before bedtime.

But what’s perhaps most special about The Grand is the service. Staff are so friendly and room service and housekeeping are always fast to respond to requests.
