Known simply for its pine trees, figs, almonds and olives until the 1960s, Ibiza has since gained a real reputation for hosting some of the world’s best parties. Whilst the island’s rural interior has changed relatively little, beautiful Ibiza Town has boomed into a hip hotspot with a plethora of terrific hotels and guesthouses. Whether you’re dreaming of an intimate luxury bolthole or a glitzy contemporary hotel, our pick of the best places to stay in Ibiza Town has it all.
A fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ibiza’s old town is framed by impressive fortifications, some of which date back to the time of the Phoenicians. Stroll along narrow streets lined with whitewashed houses and medieval mansions, some of which now house pretty independent shops and cafés. You’ll find buzzy bars and seriously impressive clubs towards the waterfront. Favourites include Pacha — going strong since 1973 — as well as Space, and Privilege, which is reputedly the world’s largest nightclub.
Soak up the sunshine during the day at Playa d'en Bossa or more family-friendly Talamanca. Culture aficionados will adore discovering the Iglesia San Rafael or the Necropolis del Puig des Molins, both of which offer intriguing insights into the island’s rich heritage. Finally, day trips to rocky Es Vedra, an island sheathed in legend, come highly recommended. Return to one of the best places to stay in Ibiza Town for sundowners, live music and delectable seafood. Do be aware that hotels fill up fast during the busy summer season, so book your trip well in advance!
