Visit the Llangollen Museum to delve into the area’s past, and admire the striking architecture of Llangollen Railway Viaduct — built in the 1860s, it is one of the world’s largest structures made of cast iron. The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is also well worth seeing, as are the 11th century Castell Dinas Brân and Castell y Gaer, two fortified Iron Age hill forts. If you’re travelling as a family, there’s an excellent adventure park at Coed Talon Woodland Park, as well as cycling trails and walking paths along the River Dee.
