The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is also well worth seeing, as are the 11th century Castell Dinas Brân and Castell y Gaer, two fortified Iron Age hill forts. If you’re travelling as a family, there’s an excellent adventure park at Coed Talon Woodland Park, as well as cycling trails and walking paths along the River Dee.

  • The nearest international airport in Liverpool (about 30 miles away), but Llangollen can also be reached by bus with services from all over the area.
  • If you wish to hire a car, which we strongly advise if you want to get out and about exploring, we recommend you check out Rentalcars.
  • The summer months are the best time to visit Llangollen if you're looking for warm and dry weather, but this is also peak season! For fewer crowds and cheaper prices opt for the spring and autumn months, when the countryside can look truly spectacular.
