Belém runs along the Tagus River, encompassing many seafood restaurants, stretches of garden and historic landmarks as it does. Belém is where many an historic Portuguese journey of discovery has set sail from, or returned to. In fact many would have seen the rather grand Belém Tower on the horizon and known they had made it back to Europe.
