From its chic subterranean spa to its lofty 360-degree terrace, it's hard not fall for the numerous charms of the boutique Jardí de ses Bruixes Hotel. The husband-and-wife run property occupies a beautifully restored 19th-century townhouse (and neighbouring annex) in the centre of Mahón's picturesque old town, within an easy amble of the Menorcan capital's varied attractions. But much more than just a convenient base, it provides a genuinely homey-yet-stylish ambience that encourages lengthy lingering in its various oh-so-tastefully finished public areas. Original period features and island-sourced antiques provide the backdrop for breezy contemporary decor in guest rooms and suites, all of which feature wood-burning stoves and deluxe bathrooms with soaking tubs. Home-baked treats, together with a la carte breakfast and dinner are taken in the flamboyant Art Nouveau surrounds of the dining room or – to many the hotel's highlight – in a dreamily secluded orange tree courtyard.
