Deep in the Argan peppered countryside, accessed via a meandering track lies this enchanting Berber farm. Truly delightful in all its rustic charm, Lalla Abouch entices those wanting to be immersed in nature in an utterly peaceful setting (bar an occasional donkey bray or peacock call). Set around a cobbled courtyard, Italian owner Lucrezia has decorated each of the three bedrooms, various salons and outdoor terraces overlooking a small refreshing pool, with sensitivity and joyful simplicity - artisanal wooden furniture sits alongside traditional wool rugs, vintage photographs and straw lampshades. Flavoursome farmhouse food is prepared by the housekeeper and enjoyed at a shaded wooden table or guests can pick up fresh ingredients from the local Tidzi market and cook up their own recipes. There are culinary demos to get inspiration. Walking, reading, relaxing...it's the ideal place to escape modern life yet only a short drive from bustling Essaouira town.
