“A charming homestay well positioned in the city centre. Individually decorated rooms are filled with antique artefacts and knick-knacks. There is a well stocked library and sitting room for guests to congregate. A buffet breakfast is served and delicious home-cooked meals are available on request. ”

Hotel review

A bit like staying at grandma’s house – for all the right reasons. A truly idiosyncratic guesthouse you can barely make your way through the dining room for fear of knocking over some ‘priceless’ ornament. Each room features wallpapers of increasingly chintzy and garish design (the owner’s brother is a wallpaper designer), topped with decorative plates, novelty clocks and other such trivia. All so wonderfully garish it totally works. There is a living room filled with chintzy sofas and glass cabinets containing an overflow of ornamental china figurines. This leafs onto a balcony covered on green grocer’s glass and garden gnomes: what else. Each of the uniquely decorated rooms is themed around a different colour scheme. Charmingly decorated some are a little pokey – opt for the private balcony or the two rooms on the delightful roof terrace, which can be booked together to make an ideal family suite. Bathrooms are simple but functioning. Breakfast is served and includes the usual continental fare as well as some India favourites. The poha is one of its best. Lunch and dinner can be served on request or they can help you order in whatever you desire. Plus the plentiful eateries of SDA market and Hauz Khas village are right on your doorstep.
