This small luxury hotel is set in a stunningly restored 16th century villa steeped in history. It’s an art lover’s paradise, with centuries old frescoes and original paintings by Ciampelli, Carracci and Pannini adorning the walls. The grounds are beautiful parkland with fruit and lemon trees, vines, a kitchen garden and Italian-style garden to wander through. Rooms are simple, elegant and comfortable, with views over the park, or to Rome, Frascati and hill of Tuscolo. Relax by the outdoor pool after a day’s sightseeing in nearby Rome (22km away) or walking and riding around one of the various trails on the property. Foodies should head to the Frascati wine region, and explorers make time to visit the two volcanic lakes of Albano and Nemi. Fantastic value and utterly romantic.
