Since opening in April 2019, the St Regis has sparked much interest in Hong Kong - and it’s easy to see why. Designed by André Fu (designer of the acclaimed Upper House), from stepping foot into the lobby laden with marble floors and bronze paneled doors, it is clear that no expense has been spared. The hotel gives off a luxurious yet warm feel, and its staff are on hand for every request. A personal butler will whisk you off to your room via the Drawing Room, where champagne bottles are decapitated daily at dusk. The rooms are sizeable and continue the sophisticated theme of dark wood, brass fittings and plush blue rugs. Wall lighting takes its design from 1940s gas lamps and art deco paintings give the effect off a modern hotel which is in touch with its heritage. No detail is spared from the Frette Italian bed sheets and slippers to the daily hand-written notes. The St Regis leaves guests with everything at their fingertips including lighting and curtain buttons conveniently placed at arm’s length from the bed – a convenient touch with a bed so comfortable that you won’t want to get out of it. The huge marble bathroom features his and hers sinks, drawers filled with all of the amenities and products you could need and a palatial stone bath fitted with a tv screen for bubble-bath soaked viewing. If this isn’t enough, head up to the “Athletics Club” on the top floor which is decked out with a heated rooftop pool lined with cabanas, a state-of the art gym and spa - a tranquil haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s easy to forget that you are in Hong Kong at the St Regis with its eclectic mix of New York meets Hong Kong - most evident in the decadent hotel bar adorned with velvet push chairs and a “tale of two cities”-style cocktail menu. The St Regis also delivers on food. The hotel’s Chinese restaurant, Rùn, led by renowned chef Hung Chi-Kwong, elevates the classic Hong Kong experience to new levels. For those keen on European cuisine, be sure to head to l’Envol for a decadent French experience led by Michelin star chef Olivier Elzer. For an afternoon bite, the St. Regis signature afternoon tea is served in the Drawing Room atop dim sum trolleys filled with sweet and savory patisseries which guests can take at their choosing. The overall air of luxury at the St Regis, the excellent service and meticulous details will leave you feeling well-looked after and no doubt in need of another stay.
