Hotel Review

With just 12 rooms and suites in the palace plus a further 11 apartments in a separate building, a stay at the luxurious Torel 1884 boutique hotel in Porto’s historic centre is a must. Experience a 19th-century Portuguese palace combined with 21st century luxury. The interior is a sultry design-conscious blend of traditional elegance and contemporary styling. The themed décor reflects the countries Portugal’s most intrepid explorers visited and the goods they brought back. A stunning original central atrium staircase from the lobby, naturally lit by an original ornate glass skylight above, provides access to spacious high ceiling rooms. Bigger rooms have TVs in bathrooms, huge rain showers and deep soaking tubs. From the top floor lounge, complete with an honesty bar, look down and take in the original patterned tiled floor. Breakfast is served in a beautiful wine and tapas bar. The hotel is centrally located minutes from the São Bento train and metro station, and five minutes from the Ribeira riverside famous for its port wine cellars.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? Yes, our Bartolomeu Bistro & Bar offers lunch and dinner in an exotic ambience. Our menu is a tribute to the great Portuguese explorers who walked the lands and seas far away. Bartolomeu is a chic and relaxed place to enjoy a good wine, good food and good conversations.
