Hotel Review
Set on a quiet street in the hip Mar Mikhael neighborhood, this boutique hotel encapsulates Beirut’s masterful balance between the old and new. The residence dates back to the 1920s, and traditional architecture, century-old floor tiles, antique furniture and old-world hospitality reflect an enchanting pre-war history. But the hotel has catapulted to the present where it matters most. Modern comforts pair with thought-provoking art from local contemporary artists to remind guests that they’re right here, right now. The hotel’s co-owner is a French chef who runs a delightful restaurant on the property’s ground floor. With Art Deco décor, an extensive wine list and cuisine that The New York Times calls “exceptional,” it’s an ideal place to spend an evening — or an early morning. A full Lebanese breakfast, featuring freshly baked bread and homemade lebneh (yogurt), is included with each stay.
