And all about a ten minute walk from Lighthouse Beach.
- The Richard is a hybrid boutique hotel/B&B, converted from a classic clapboard mansion. The original large windows set the tone for this light, bright pick, and simple, contemporary decor makes each of the 16 rooms feel fresh and spacious — the decor is different in each room, and some are more traditionally New England than others. The garden has colourful outcrop furniture and a fire pit.
For Romantics
- The Ashley Inn has been carefully converted from a 19th century Captain’s home, into a ten room B&B, while retaining the old-world charm and many of the original features. - Converted from a Captan’s house, built in 1892, The Sydney is a 22 room B&B in the heart of Edgartown. Eight rooms are in the original house, and 14 in an adjacent, newer block. The decor is cheerful, and, unusual for a B&B, there’s a lively little restaurant. This is a great base, within walking distance of the beach and lots of other attractions.
For an Island Escape
- The Beach Plum Inn is a collection of sea-facing bungalows that have been hosting guests since the 1950s, and offer peace, comfort and charm in a pastel colour scheme. The decor is classic Massachusetts: clapboard walls and wood furniture. You can self-cater, but breakfast is served in a charming little dining room, and they offer pop-up dinners by local chefs in season.
For Great Value
- Mansion House is a charming New England style clapboard mansion overlooking the harbour — especially from its higher floors! There are ample porches and balconies to make the most of the sun and sea views, and some of the 48 rooms and suites have private balconies.
