The Autor Rooms in Warsaw is a great little find for anyone looking for a quality city stay in a small and individual property that will allow you to immerse yourself in authentic Polish life. The location is ideal whether you’re in Warsaw for business or pleasure. The main city highlights can be easily accessed on foot (it’s about a half hour walk to the old Town) or public transport and the immediate surrounds are crammed with hip little bars, cafes, restaurants and galleries. You enter the Autor rooms via a slightly unassuming communal townhouse lobby and staircase, but upon reaching the third floor entrance, any doubts will be immediately allayed as you enter a chic urban oasis and receive a very warm welcome. There are only four rooms, but all are large and airy (two can accommodate four people) with beautiful high ceilings, original cornicing and gorgeous parquet flooring. These period features are fabulously contrasted by a quirky and eclectic selection of modern furnishings and art all created by Polish designers and craftsmen. Beds are large and comfy and bathrooms come with power showers and complimentary Tolpa toiletries. Nice little extras include vintage blue tooth radios and there’s even a record player in the sitting room, where you can spin some vinyl if the mood takes you! Breakfast is served (at any time you please) around a communal dining table and is a lovely feast of Polish meats and cheeses (and they’ll cook eggs how you like them too), with a selection of fresh breads. Tea and coffee is available round the clock (no extra charge), plus there’s an honesty bar and fully equipped kitchen should you decide that you’d rather cook for yourself one night! Autor Rooms is run by charming staff who will try and make your stay as good as possible. They’re a mine of local information (in fact they’re so sure of their recommendations that they’ve produced a lovely coffee table style book which you can buy and take home), and take great trouble to ensure that Autor Rooms feels like a home from home (albeit a very chic and trendy one!). Come here for a stylish city break that certainly won’t break the bank.
