The hotel stands out as the imposing structure on the major coast road. Built in 1930, it is truly redolent of its glamorous past. Its own museum has a wall of fame boasting Frank Sinatra, Walt Disney and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and its stylish rooms are named after such stars of the silver screen, jazz artists and famous writers. The rooms are luxurious by Cuban standards. In keeping with a bygone era there is no ban on smoking indoors, so the musical hall and casino both harbour a strong smell of cigars. Love it or hate it, it's certainly in keeping with the overall theme! The palm-flanked swimming pool is retro in style and has a unique charm. The breezy garden terrace has many special areas to linger or lounge. Current cabaret night shows help to sustain the former atmosphere, along with the Bar Hístórico and the vintage American cars parked outside in the long, sweeping driveway. The food is average it’s the long and rich history that makes a stay here so unique.
