“If you’re looking for a delightful, design-savvy stay in the heart of York, Malmaison’s latest outpost is just the ticket. Dining at SORA Sky Bar affords an incredible view of the city & beyond to the White Horse of Kilburn. Enjoy on-site spa, brasserie & meeting facilities. Fun with fresh feel.”

Hotel review

Set in the old and unassuming Aviva Insurance building, it’s quite surprising to find a swanky new Malmaison. Its location on Rougier Street means that you’re moments away from the beautiful old city, York’s crown jewel, The Minster, and just steps from York train station. The hotel was designed by Dexter Moren Associates and no stone has been left unturned. Paying homage to the 60s and influenced by brutalist architecture, Malmaison York makes an impact on first sight with a bold and glitzy lobby. Rooms are spacious and modern with thoughtfully curated furniture and artworks. Suites are roomy and make a perfect short stay base in the city, with dreamy double beds and views of the old walls, gorgeous lounge areas and decadent bathrooms, ripe for a relaxing bubble bath. At dinnertime, take the secret gold lift up to SORA, to dine on Asian small plates and sip champagne on the best rooftop bar space in York.
