Hotel Review
The streets of medieval Lavenham in Suffolk are lined with historic, timber-framed buildings and The Swan at Lavenham is one of them. Parts of this well-converted hotel date back to the 15th century and it oozes character – think wooden beams and charmingly crooked walls – whilst not scrimping on modern comforts. The bedrooms vary from the smaller Lavenham rooms to larger suites complete with four-poster beds. There’s a relaxed feel with numerous seating areas – both indoor and out – tucked away, while the Airmen’s Bar is a nod to the US airmen stationed nearby during the Second World War. Attached to the bar is a relaxed dining area, while the spacious main restaurant, The Gallery, is a beautiful half-timbered room offering fine dining. Guests can unwind at The Weavers’ House Spa, which includes steam and sauna rooms, an outdoor hot tub and pampering treatments a-plenty.

The Swan at Lavenham
The Swan is without question the safe option around these parts, but it delivers on most fronts, with comfortable rooms, decent food and high levels of service – and a particularly lovely spa only adds to the appeal.
