It may look a stout village pub but step inside and it’s clear this is a classy - and foodie - affair. The former Georgian coaching inn, with its stone-flagged floors, beams and deep windows, has been given a smart make-over with bold coloured walls, grand mirrors, strings of fair-lights, tweed-covered banquettes and white-clothed tables elegantly set with napkins and fresh flowers. The menu offers confidently cooked Modern British cooking while the wine list is fine-dining standard with several Champagnes and impressive clarets. The bedrooms are spread between the main pub and two neighbouring buildings and all share the same pared-down, country-contemporary style with solid-wood furniture, wool headboards, leather armchairs and fuss-free curtains. Most are light and fresh in colour, the best with original features of exposed-stone walls or beams. Bathrooms are slick while coffee machines and home-made biscuits add a nice touch of luxury. There are walks from the doorstep, glorious views and a sunny, south-facing terraced beer garden to return to and enjoy a pint of local ale.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? I think people love the fact that we are so secluded and you can really get away from it all. This, paired with great food, professional yet friendly service and comfortable rooms, really help our guests to unwind and enjoy themselves. What is there to do in the area? There are numerous fantastic walks right on our doorstep so you can literally step out of the Inn and set off. Towns such as Harrogate, Otley and llkley are all within a 15 minute drive and the Yorkshire Dales is just a stone’s throw away. What kind of breakfast do you offer? We offer a full Yorkshire and continental breakfast. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We offer breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. There are numerous good restaurants in the aforementioned towns and a few gastro pubs scattered around the area. Which are your most popular room types, and why? Our Superior rooms in the main Inn are our most popular choices. They all have excellent views and are really good value for money. However if you do want to indulge a little then plump for our Nidderdale Suite which offers dual aspect views of the countryside, a separate living area and a 4 poster oak bed! What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? We don’t specifically cater for children but we can set up camp beds in all of our Superior rooms (at an additional cost). Our Nidderdale Suite does also boast a sofa bed in the separate lounge area so we tend to use this as a family room if required. What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? Just come down and give us a try. If you like good food, friendly service and luxurious rooms then I am positive you will enjoy a stay with us.
A food-driven village pub in a quiet, yet surprisingly well-connected, location, with bold, contemporary styling and smart bedrooms. Glorious views and easy walks are on the doorstep while it has a popular local following for evening meals and Sunday lunches.
