“A 2011 refurbishment of a small country house hotel on the Burghley House Estate, close to the A1. Shabby chic grafted onto good food and new, young staff. Cosy and quirky.”

Hotel Review
A blend of 'blend of quirkiness and splendour', with cosy bedrooms kitted out by an interior designer with an eclectic mix of styles but with an eye to comfort. The best of them have walk in showers and deep roll top baths. Some visitors have complained of noise in some rooms, so check you get the one you want. The hotel belongs to a small but promising group. Food is well reviewed.

Why do people love staying in your hotel?
With the combination of Burghley Estate on our doorstep, and the beauty of Stamford - which topped The Sunday Times’ 2013 list of the best places to live in Britain, we think The William Cecil is one of the best located hotels in the country.
What is there to do in the area or on site?
The William Cecil lies within the magnificent Burghley Estate, the centrepiece of which is Burghley House, one of the foremost Treasure Houses of the United Kingdom.
What kind of breakfast do you offer?
A full choice - from a comprehensive continental buffet to a menu of hot delights, including the full English of course.
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
You can eat at the bar or in the restaurant for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner – we see no need to leave the hotel for great food. We also have a beautiful terrace for eating al fresco.
Which are your most popular room types, and why?
All of our 27 rooms are popular - from the perfectly proportioned Classic Rooms, to the indulgence of our Luxury Rooms. Award-winning interior designer Christine Boswell helped to create a style which is individual, quirky and comfortable.
