The Peloponnese peninsula is a fantastic place to come on holiday with your kids! This beautifully sun-drenched region, with its long sweeps of sandy beaches, and rocky clear-water coves, is also full of history with its ruined Mycenaean palaces, Byzantine churches, Roman theatres, and Venetian fortresses. Perfect if you want to see the sights in the mornings, and then spend your afternoons by the water, or strolling pretty ports towns eating ice cream. There’s lots of accommodation to choose from, including family-friendly resorts, beach hotels large and small, self-catering villas and apartments, and converted rural estates and farmhouses. Kalamata is the region’s capital, and a great base for exploring further afield, but historic beauty, Nafplio is smaller and perhaps easier to navigate with little ones in tow. Mystras is close to the archaeological treasures, and the coast around Monemvasia is a good place to start looking for family-friendly beach hotels.
