“A beautifully converted country house offering boutique rooms in the main house & stunning treehouses & 'hives' on the grounds. A standout restaurant serves British dishes using local and seasonal produce. Expect bikes to borrow, a wellbeing area, and the Peak District to explore. A hip rural stay.”

Hotel review

Nestled in the Derbyshire countryside, Wildhive Callow Hall is the ultimate rural retreat. From the moment you pass the ancient Cedar Tree by the entrance and push open the grand front door to this fabulously-restored country manor, you feel you’ve entered somewhere special. The interiors delight with earthy tones, vibrant colours and whimsical wallpaper that celebrates the outdoors and nature, creating a warm, playful atmosphere. And the young, eager staff only enhance the inviting ambience, making every guest feel at home.

Unwind with a book on a plush sofa in the drawing room or head to the wow factor glasshouse restaurant for countryside views (even better from the outdoor terrace) and generous portions of vibrant British cuisine, using local suppliers and hand-picked ingredients from the kitchen gardens. If you’re planning a large group dinner, consider hiring the fabulous private dining room with its magical mural wallpaper depicting scenes from the hotel grounds and the surrounding Peak District.

The indulgence continues in the manor’s 15 guest rooms, located at the top of a grand staircase. Perfect for couples, these rooms boast free-standing baths and plush bedding. Or if you’re feeling a little wild, consider booking one of the fairytale one-bedroom ‘Hives’ or two-bedroom treehouses in the nearby forest, ideal for families (the treehouses even come with an outdoor bath). Communal firepits and pop-up woodland bars add an element of surprise for those nesting in the ancient forest.

Visit the Coach House for spa treatments, a gym and wellness classes, or to borrow bikes to explore the Tissington Trail. And with the Peak District on the doorstep, further outdoor adventure awaits.

Map & Location

See what they say

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Wildhive Callow Hall is more akin to a home than a hotel. The design, dining, and style of service all come together to create a relaxed ambience which draws guests back time and time again. Immersing themselves in the wild surroundings, the ethos running through Wildhive is all about getting back to nature. There are plenty of cosy corners to unwind after a day of exploring and the team feels like an extension of the family.

What is there to do in the area? Wildhive Callow Hall is located in rural Derbyshire at the gateway to the Peak District. Walking and biking routes are plentiful and can be planned in Wildhive Callow Hall’s Map Room. Guests can leave the hotel (by foot or e-bike) and follow the Tissington Trail stopping by charming local villages or join the Dovedale route from the nearest town of Ashbourne. Chatsworth House is nearby too, where visitors can explore the gardens of this stately home or the rich cultural events programme of shows, talks and workshops.

What kind of breakfast do you offer? An a-la-carte breakfast menu is served in The Garden Room, no buffets which waste food. This is not included in room rate. Guests can also make use of the fully-equipped kitchenettes in Hives and Treehouses for a coffee or to make their own breakfast and feel at home!

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? Food is served all-day in the beautifully light Garden Room, with expansive views of the Derbyshire countryside. The menu encourages guests to dine as they please, be it a casual meal of a selection of small plates and snacks, or a more formal three-course dinner. The eclectic and intriguing menu showcases the best in seasonal British - and where possible local - ingredients, with dishes inspired by Executive Chef David Bukowicki’s extensive travels, as well as historic British recipes with a modern twist. The menu changes seasonally and Bukowicki also works closely with the kitchen team to create dishes for the ever-changing ‘Best Of’ menu, incorporating the most seasonal ingredients into six dishes spanning snacks, mains and nostalgic desserts. Afternoon tea is also served to guests and visitors alike.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? Families are welcomed with open arms at Wildhive Callow Hall. The team ensures beds and cots are provided as well as high-chairs in The Garden Room. Dogs are also welcome in Hives, Treehouses and the ground-floor rooms in the Main House.
